The Stage is Set and the Lights are Shining Bright

One year ago, the first talks about bringing together DIRT and ABATE into one power-house took place at a little dinner in southern Indiana.

That day has come and gone, and there is still much to be done.

We are working hard to put plans in place for the next calendar year. These plans include everything from improvements to LCRP, turning it into an OHV show place, and state legislation to ensure the continued state support for OHV activities.

This work takes time, and this is where we need your help.

We’re looking for individuals who are willing to represent ABATE DIRT as regional representatives. The ABATE DIRT regional representatives play a pivotal role in organizing and communicating to the members at large. If you are interested in becoming an ABATE DIRT regional representative, please contact your existing ABATE regional representative and they will be able to assist you.

LCRP Trail Inventory: We are planning a weekend trail inventory shindig. The shindig will include both ATV and motorcycle user groups and individuals. We will need your help to inventory all the trails by trail type within LCRP using GPS units. This will be the start. Once we know what we have and where the problem areas are, we can begin planning on how to improve the property.

Since the leaves have not fallen yet, this will be held in mid November once the leaves have fallen.

All work and no play: We are working on putting together one of DIRT’s Adventure rides. It’s called an adventure ride cause that’s exactly what it is…

No specific route, no specific destination. It’s an adventure to see what’s around the next corner. We will stick to as many unpaved county roads as possible throughout southern Indiana and will overnight someplace in between here and there. Roy Garret will be leading the ride/route. Depending on the number of participants we can break up into smaller groups to keep the dust down.

These rides are intended for all riders regardless of riding abilities and the group will set the pace based on the riders in the group. We are planning on using LCRP as the starting point and possible overnight.

As soon as a solid date is set, we’ll get the word out on meeting date/time.
