Indiana Department of Education Welcomes New Training Specialist (January 22, 2010) The Indiana Department of Education is pleased to announce that on January 19, 2010 Jeff Stokes was hired as the Training Specialist for the Indiana Motorcycle Rider Education Program. Jeff is from Romney, Indiana and has 30 years experience riding motorcycles. He took his first BRC class in 2000 and became a RiderCoach for ABATE in 2005; until coming to the department Jeff was the site coordinator for the ABATE training site in Lafayette since 2006. We look forward to adding Jeff’s passion for motorcycle rider education to helping administering this program, and providing guidance and support to our training partners and motorcyclists across the state.

Senate Bill 31 Update (January 21, 2010) SB31 passed second reading on the Senate Floor at about 2:30 this afternoon (01/21/10). It has been ordered to engrossment and will return to the full senate for third reading before being sent to the House. In accordance with rules, this must be completed by February 3rd for the bill to be eligible in the House. On January 19, 2010, Senate Bill 31 -- allowing handlebars to rise to shoulder height -- passed out of committee with no opposition. The bill now goes to the full Senate.

Urge Congress to hold hearings regarding the CPSIA (January 12, 2010) The AMA strongly urges all motorcyclists and ATV riders to contact their U.S. Senators and Representatives today and demand that they conduct hearings regarding the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) lead ban affecting youth-model off-highway motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). More

Kids' Day at the State House) has been scheduled for Thursday, February 11th. Senate Approves Two-Month Highway Funding Extension WASHINGTON, DC (December 19, 2009) The US Senate passed a two month extension to the Highway bill in a rare Saturday Senate session. Just after the break of dawn, in the middle of one of Washington worst snow storms on record, the US senate passed a last minute extension of the Federal Highway programs. The House passed a similar measure earlier this week. More
